Law Day Essay Contest
Students are invited to think, research, write, reflect and rewrite! Enter the 2019 Law Day Essay Contest by submitting a 500 word essay. An award will given to both a middle school and a high school student.
Topics to be considered include:
- In what ways might a free society depend on free speech and a free press?
- Identify, discuss, and evaluate challenges to and triumphs of free speech and free press.
- In what ways might you be a champion of a free society utilizing free speech and free press.

Tinker Tours Michigan for Law Day Festivities
Join Mary Beth Tinker as she tours Michigan to celebrate students and teachers who work toward a more free society through speech and the press. Plus – celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tinker decision! The case involved Des Moines, Iowa, students who planned to wear black armbands at school as a silent protest against the Vietnam War.

Law Day Trivia Event – Test Your Knowledge of Civic Related Topics
Play trivia with your colleagues from across the branches and across the aisles! Reserve Tuesday, April 30 to join us in Lansing for an amazing evening of fun filled legal, political, and Constitutional game play. Celebrate Law Day with your trivia emcee Mary Beth Tinker and support MCCE. Become an event sponsor or purchase a ticket to attend. Event will take place on Tuesday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m., Michigan Room, Lansing Community College. The cost for an individual ticket is $100; sponsorship levels start at $250 through $5,000.
