What is MiVoice MiVote?

Welcome to MiVoice MiVote—a statewide, nonpartisan initiative by the Michigan Center for Civic Education (MCCE), in collaboration with the Michigan Department of State, and Michigan Department of Education, to turn civic duty into lifelong action.

MCCE provides comprehensive, nonpartisan programming about voting and elections to help Michigan schools fulfill the legal requirements of Public Act 258, create civic-ready classrooms, and demystify the election process from the ground up.

Join the Student Voter Registration Challenge!

Take the Challenge. Mobilize Your School. Earn Statewide Recognition.

The MiVoice MiVote Student Voter Registration Challenge turns youth voter readiness into an exciting, statewide movement! High schools, colleges, and youth organizations across Michigan will compete head-to-head to see who can register or preregister the highest percentage of eligible students.

  • Digital-First Pledging: Educators, students, and volunteers from verified partner organizations can use their unique access codes to encourage students to take a MiVoice MiVote pledge to register or preregister to vote. These pledges are tracked in real time on our dynamic leaderboard.

  • Preregistration Matters: Michigan encourages 16- and 17-year-olds to preregister to vote. The MiVoice MiVote Challenge educates these students about the preregistration process and counts their pledges toward their school’s leaderboard totals!

  • Official Resources: Once they take the pledge, students are seamlessly transitioned to the Michigan Department of State’s official site to complete the registration or preregistration process. Students also have access to an AI “voting partner” that can answer their questions about elections and voting using information from official state sources.

  • Statewide Awards: Based on the percentage of eligible students who take the pledge, schools, districts, and educators will be recognized by MCCE and the Michigan Department of State. Help your school earn Platinum (90%+), Gold (80%+), Silver (70%+), or Bronze-level (60%+) recognition.

  • The MiVoice MiVote Community Project: An optional student leadership track where students work individually or in groups to design creative, nonpartisan civic engagement projects. Outstanding projects will earn distinguished statewide awards. All projects must be submitted by an educator or verified organizational partner by December 1.

  • Community Connection: All schools and organizational partners will have customizable portfolio pages in a searchable directory. They will also have the opportunity to submit nonpartisan events for inclusion in our civics community calendar.

  • Quizzes and Games: Users will have access to knowledge quizzes and educational games focused on civics. This ensures they have a reason to return to the platform again and again–even after taking the pledge.
