Mock Trial Volunteer Resources

This page will add all volunteers in their roles. Please also attend a virtual orientation to review the materials and ask any and all questions prior to your mock trial event. Thank you for taking the time to thoughtfully review the materials to ensure the students have their best possible experience.

Volunteers!
You make it possible for the students to bring their learning to the courtroom! For the 2021-2022 school year, the dates for the competitions and showcase are:

Mar 19, 2022

*May 5-7 is the national championship. Experience in a state event is required!

As you consider when you can volunteer, please review For your time consideration, 

For each regional, the best options to consider for time commitment are:  

  • Rounds 1 and 2 (Anticipated time commitment is 7:15 AM – 1:30 PM)
  • Round 1, 2, and 3 (Anticipated time commitment is 7:15 AM – 5 PM)
  • Round 3 Only (Anticipated time commitment is 1:50 PM – 5 PM)

For the state finals and championship, the best options to consider for time commitment are:  

  • Preliminary Rounds 1 and 2 (Anticipated time commitment is 7:15 AM – 1:45 PM)
  • Semi Finals (Anticipated time commitment is 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM)
  • Final Round (by invite – Anticipated time commitment is 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM)
  • (Any variation of the above!)

JUDGING RESOURCES

  • Welcome Letter for Judges
  • Judges Resource Packet – Includes: 
    • Performance Scoring Guidelines and Scoring Guidelines Explained to help guide judging. 
    • Paper copies of the ballot are also provided so you may keep track of your scores on paper before entering the scores on the electronic ballot. This will be covered at orientation as well. 
    • Judge Checklist – this checklist outlines the overall process and protocols for the event. We will review this at orientation. 
    • Presiding Judge Script. This script is used only by the Presiding Judges. We have placed this is all judges folders in case there anyone serves as a Presiding Judge
