Note: Please ensure you’ve completed the Registration Form before paying your registration fee!
Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and compete against each other in real courtrooms in front of real judges and lawyers. Students interpret legal documents, witness statements, and take on roles and simulate a trial in real life and real time. Participants adjust to the strategies employed by the opposing side. Mock trials draw upon historical events, trials of contemporary interest, school or classroom situations, or hypothetical and entertaining fact patterns to inspire students to think critically and creatively about the law.
2019-2020 Dates are:
____ February 22, 2020 – Washtenaw County Regional, Ann Arbor
____ February 29, 2020 – Oakland County Regional. Pontiac
____ March 7, 2020 – Macomb County Regional, Mt. Clemens***
____ March 7, 2020 – Ingham County Regional. Pontiac
____ March 14, 2020 – Kent County Regional, Grand Rapids
For 2020, State Finals will be held at the Kalamazoo Radisson and the Kalamazoo County Courthouse. It is being held a test run for the Mock Trial National Championship in 2021. State Finals will return to Lansing in 2021.
Registrations will be accepted until January 10, 2020 at 3 p.m.
A 50% refund of Registration fees will be available for teams withdrawing before 3:00 p.m. on January 10, 2020. No amount of registration is returned for drops that occur after January 10, 2020 at 3 p.m.
