Mock Trial

 

State Finals Results!

On Saturday, March 28, 2015, 10 teams advanced from our four regional competitions to compete in the MHSMTT State Finals.  The teams competed in two preliminary rounds, after which four teams advanced to the semifinals.  The top two teams then faced off for the MHSMTT 2015 Championship and the right to represent Michigan at the National High School Mock Trial Championship this May. 

  • First Place - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team A)
  • Second Place - University of Detroit Jesuit High School
  • Third Place - Grand Blanc High School
  • Fourth Place - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team B)

Washtenaw County Regional Results:

On Saturday, February 28, 2015, 8 teams competed at the Washtenaw County Trial Courthouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Two teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 298 2015, in Lansing, Michigan, one through a Wildcard Qualification.

Teams advancing to the state finals:

  • 5 - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team A)
  • 3 - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team B)

Macomb County Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 7, 2015, 12 teams competed at the Macomb County Circuit Courthouse in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.  Two teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Lansing, Michigan, and two teams received honorable mention.

Teams advancing to the state finals:

  • 10 - Anchor Bay High School
  • 7 - Cousino High School

Teams receiving honorable mention:

  • 4 - De La Salle Collegiate High School
  • 9 - Richmond High School

Kent County Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 7, 2015, 7 teams competed at the Kent County Circuit Courthouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  One team advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Lansing, Michigan, and one team received honorable mention.

Team advancing to the state finals:

  • 2 - Forest Hills Northern High School

Team receiving honorable mention:

  • 7 - St. Joseph High School

Oakland County Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 14, 2015, 26 teams competed at the Oakland County Circuit Courthouse in Pontiac, Michigan.  Five teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 28, 2015, in Lansing, Michigan, one through a Wildcard Qualifier, and three teams received honorable mention.

  • 12 - Clarkston High School
  • 29 - University of Detroit Jesuit High School
  • 8 - St. Mary Catholic Central High School (Team A)

Mock Trial

A Mock Trial is designed to reenact much of what might take place in a trial court.  Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and compete against each other in real courtrooms in front of real judges and lawyers.
