State Finals Results!

On Saturday, March 29, 2014, 10 teams participated in the State Finals of the 20134MCCE High School Mock Trial Tournament. The finalists are listed under their respective regionals below.  After two difficult preliminary rounds, four teams advanced to the semifinals. At the end of the day, the finals standings were as follows:

First Place: Ann Arbor Community High School (A)
Second Place: Grand Blanc High School
Third Place: Yale High School
Fourth Place: Forest Hills Northern High School


Macomb Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 1, 2014, 12 teams competed at the Macomb County Circuit Courthouse in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.  Two teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lansing, Michigan, and two teams received honorable mention.

Teams advancing to the state finals:

  • 11 - Capac High School (Team B)
  • 10 - Grosse Pointe South High School (Team A)

Teams receiving honorable mention:

  • 2 - Anchor Bay High School
  • 8 - Cousino High School

Ann Arbor Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, 12 teams competed at the Washtenaw County Trial Courthouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Each team competed in three rounds.  Three teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lansing, Michigan, and three teams received honorable mention.

Teams advancing to the state finals:

  • 9 - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team A)
  • 13 - Ann Arbor Community High School (Team B)
  • 8 - Ypsilanti High School (Team A)

Teams receiving honorable mention:

  • 5 - Pinckney High School
  • 2 - Pinconning High School
  • 6 - Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (Team A)

Grand Rapids Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 8, 2014, 5 teams competed at the Kent County Circuit Courthouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  One team advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lansing, Michigan, and one team received honorable mention.

Team advancing to the state finals:

  • 1 - Forest Hills Northern High School (Team A)

Team receiving honorable mention:

  • 4 - Kalamazoo Central High School

Pontiac Regional Results:

On Saturday, March 15, 2014, 20 teams competed at the Oakland County Circuit Courthouse in Pontiac, Michigan.  Four teams advanced to the State Finals on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in Lansing, Michigan, and three teams received honorable mention.

Teams advancing to the state finals:

  • 17 - Grand Blanc High School
  • 13 - St. Clair High School
  • 15 - Yale High School
  • 4 - University of Detroit Jesuit High School

Teams receiving honorable mention:

  • 18 - Clarkston High School (Team A)
  • 5 - St. Mary Catholic Central High School (Team A)
  • 14 - St. Mary Catholic Central High School (Team B)

Mock Trial

A Mock Trial is designed to reenact much of what might take place in a trial court.  Students take on the roles of attorneys and witnesses and compete against each other in real courtrooms in front of real judges and lawyers.
